Novel Review Illustration setting

Hi bloggers, this week was our first week back at school. We also had this activity  called a Novel Review were we had to get a novel and read it and fill in some activities on the book. My novel was called Dunger by Joy Cowley. In our slide we had many activities but the one  that I'm going to tell you about is the illustration of the setting . We had to design our setting in a book or digitally.  I created my digital on a website called Tinkercad. My story was all about this boy named William and his sister named Melissa, and they were supposed to go on holiday to Queenstown, but instead they went to their grandparent's bach and had to work for the whole summer holidays. On my illustration I think I did OK because it looks like a bach, because it has front lawn, a garden and even a mat at the front door and it even has the word WELCOME on it. If I was to do this activity again  I would change my book to have another setting. I would also like to actually be able put the house in the middle and grass ALL around it because there was only patch of grass I could have done or it would look weird. Here is the photo of my Setting

Production

Our school production this year was Pasifica Peter Pan (a twist on an old classic). We started rehearsing early last term and presented to an audience last week, with three performances (two in the evening and one Friday matinee show).  Our song at the end was one of our Jump Jam songs.  The senior syndicate had major and minor roles, both on stage and behind the scenes. The rest of the school performed cultural dances from around the Pacific. Shows were sold out and audiences were treated to a spectacular performance. An amazing end result from all our hard work! Well done!

Technolagy rotation

Hi, bloggers for the past three weeks we have been doing a technology Rotation. We had many different stops like making paper circuits, making a Marble Bridge and making Geo boards . In the paper circuit making we had to try make a light using and LED battery to make a  LED light bulb flash or turn on. After trying that out, we used different materials that have electricity to make a circuit.  Some of the materials we used were LED batteries and light bulbs , tinfoil, split pins and paper clips. Our challenge was to make a switch to turn our LED light bulb  and turn it off again. The thing that I found difficult was trying to get the circuit stable and show perseverance. The next place I went to was making Geo boards. The materials we used were nails, wood and elastic strings.  The Geo board challenge was using measurement to create, using tools to put things together and also taking turns and sharing. The thing I found difficult were nailing the nails in because I ...

Summer learning (week 1/ Day 1)

Today's  activity for the summer learning journey is finding out three top facts about New Zealand on the Tourism New Zealand site.  My first facts about New Zealand is,   New Zealand is part of the pacific rim of fire and it's most active volcano is Mount Ruapehu , which is found in the middle of the North Island . Did you know that? The Auckland sky tower is the tallest freestanding structure in the southern hemisphere, standing at 328 meters high.  Last fact about New Zealand that I found interesting was  30% of the country is forest. So there must be a lot of trees then. CAN YOU FIND OUT SOME INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT NEW ZEALAND? LEAVE A COMMENT ON WHAT YOU FOUND OUT BLOG YOU LATER
