Summer learning (week 1/ Day 1)

Today's  activity for the summer learning journey is finding out three top facts about New Zealand on the Tourism New Zealand site.

My first facts about New Zealand is, New Zealand is part of the pacific rim of fire and it's most active volcano is Mount Ruapehu , which is found in the middle of the North Island .

Did you know that? The Auckland sky tower is the tallest freestanding structure in the southern hemisphere, standing at 328 meters high.

Last fact about New Zealand that I found interesting was  30% of the country is forest. So there must be a lot of trees then.

CAN YOU FIND OUT SOME INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT NEW ZEALAND? LEAVE A COMMENT ON WHAT YOU FOUND OUT

  1. Malo Manea,

Welcome to the Summer Learning Journey. Congratulations on completing your very first activity for this years programme. We have had so many students participating in the last few days, it has been very exciting for our team. I cannot wait to see more amazing posts from you over the holidays.

Wow, what a great way to kick start your journey. You have put in a lot of effort to find the facts and shared them in a creative way with photos and questions. I also found it interesting that 30% of Aotearoa's surface is covered in forest. That is one reason why our country is so unique and beautiful. I am lucky enough to live on the edge of a native bush which is like a small forest. My son, Nico, and I can jump the fence and enjoy the bush walks in our backyard. We are often being visited by native birds such as tui's, kereru's, and fantail's. Have you had the opportunity to visit a forest? If so, where about in New Zealand was this forest?

I loved the way you introduced the activity at the beginning of your post. This will help other bloggers who are visiting your site understand what activity you are responding too.

    Keep up the awesome work,
    Megan :)

Summer learning journey

Morena bloggers, Today in Literacy tumble we are doing something called the Summer Learning Journey.  We had to pick a country and, I picked Australia. The two reasons why I picked Australia is because one my favorite netball player is married to an Australian rugby player and, two because I wanted to find out about Australia so I can tell my aunt, who lives in Australia.  Who wants to find out about Australia? Lets Go.... In Australia the capital is  Canberra, there are many other places like Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.  In Australia they have a holiday called Australia Day, which is on the 26th of January. On Australian day they eat things like Pavlova and also chips down at the beach. The national colours are Green and gold and they usually have a Kangaroo on their sports uniform.

Zoofari

Hi, bloggers as part of our inquiry we went to Auckland Zoo.  We went and saw the New Zealand animals because that is our inquiry focus this term. Each class went with one of the zoo educators. We were sent to specific place in the zoo, we went to see the New Zeland birds and animals like the tuatara.  Some of the birds we saw were a kereru, kaka, bellbird and teike (which is a stichbird). We also went into the Bug Lab where we got to learn about bugs and do some activites. My favrouite activity was when you made a butterfly and tried seeing how high it could fly. After that we got to explore some other animlals around the zoo. My favrouite animlal was the elephant because it was doing somthing really really funny. Here are some photos of the day! Here is us being a Tuatra Blog you later😍😍
