Inquiry

Hi, bloggers for the past 2 terms , we have been working on creating posters and soap. During the process of making soap we were also making posters. We had to make different sizes of poster. After choosing our size of paper we had to start sketching up ideas of how we are , going to plan our design. Then we had to outline the ideas with permanent marker, after we had to pick some pastels to start coloring in our poster. Finally we had finished our posters and now it was time to start making more soap YAH! . We used different natural ,and organic ingredients to create ,our fantastic smelling soap. Some of the ingredient we used were

  1.  Pure goats milk
  2. shea butter
  3. lemon grinds
  4. glycrine
  5. food clouring
  6. scents
  7. glitter
  8. and much much more

If you would like to come down to our gala day it, is on the saturday the 25th of november. We have heaps of exciting activities , cultural dance , international food stalls, books, toys and games. I found creating our large poster difficult because we had to make our ideas and lettering big and effective. But I found making the soap easy but the posters was really hard.

Production

Our school production this year was Pasifica Peter Pan (a twist on an old classic). We started rehearsing early last term and presented to an audience last week, with three performances (two in the evening and one Friday matinee show).  Our song at the end was one of our Jump Jam songs.  The senior syndicate had major and minor roles, both on stage and behind the scenes. The rest of the school performed cultural dances from around the Pacific. Shows were sold out and audiences were treated to a spectacular performance. An amazing end result from all our hard work! Well done!

Technolagy rotation

Hi, bloggers for the past three weeks we have been doing a technology Rotation. We had many different stops like making paper circuits, making a Marble Bridge and making Geo boards . In the paper circuit making we had to try make a light using and LED battery to make a  LED light bulb flash or turn on. After trying that out, we used different materials that have electricity to make a circuit.  Some of the materials we used were LED batteries and light bulbs , tinfoil, split pins and paper clips. Our challenge was to make a switch to turn our LED light bulb  and turn it off again. The thing that I found difficult was trying to get the circuit stable and show perseverance. The next place I went to was making Geo boards. The materials we used were nails, wood and elastic strings.  The Geo board challenge was using measurement to create, using tools to put things together and also taking turns and sharing. The thing I found difficult were nailing the nails in because I ...

Today's  activity for the summer learning journey is finding out three top facts about New Zealand on the Tourism New Zealand site.  My first facts about New Zealand is,   New Zealand is part of the pacific rim of fire and it's most active volcano is Mount Ruapehu , which is found in the middle of the North Island . Did you know that? The Auckland sky tower is the tallest freestanding structure in the southern hemisphere, standing at 328 meters high.  Last fact about New Zealand that I found interesting was  30% of the country is forest. So there must be a lot of trees then. CAN YOU FIND OUT SOME INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT NEW ZEALAND? LEAVE A COMMENT ON WHAT YOU FOUND OUT BLOG YOU LATER
