SUMMER LEARNING JOURNEY(DAY ONE, WEEK ONE)

Hi bloggers, today for the summer learning journey, we had to explian to everyone if we are a night owl or a early riser. I am ecspisally an early riser, because every morning I wake up at 6:30 or when i'm tired I don't wake up until'l 7:30. Only an hour later. My mum and dad are night owls, because they love to sleep. I have four siblings and they are all night owls, because they love sleeping as well. I don't like sleeping because to me it is like, when you go to sleep it is the end of the day and a of a new one.

Summer learning (week 1/ Day 1)

Today's  activity for the summer learning journey is finding out three top facts about New Zealand on the Tourism New Zealand site.  My first facts about New Zealand is,   New Zealand is part of the pacific rim of fire and it's most active volcano is Mount Ruapehu , which is found in the middle of the North Island . Did you know that? The Auckland sky tower is the tallest freestanding structure in the southern hemisphere, standing at 328 meters high.  Last fact about New Zealand that I found interesting was  30% of the country is forest. So there must be a lot of trees then. CAN YOU FIND OUT SOME INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT NEW ZEALAND? LEAVE A COMMENT ON WHAT YOU FOUND OUT BLOG YOU LATER

Final Time At Waikowhai Primary School

Hi bloggers, at the end of this term it will be my last time at Waikowhai Primary School. I have had many memories at this school, including Ski Camp to Mount Rupehu☃, Production and just being here . My three years at Waikowhai have been challenging, like meeting new people because I used to be shy, going away with school to camp, and being away from my parents and family. I have also had moments were I just felt like leaving school. The things that I am looking forward to next year at Intermediate are, my new friends, opportunities and many more things. I am a afraid of the harder work, the more fitness we have to do and getting more homework, but I know I can do it all thanks to everyone that has helped me, like my teachers Mrs Simpson , Mr Rattenburry , Mrs Sands, Mr Riceman and Mrs Jones . Thanks to all the Waikowhai staff, Waikowhai students and parents. I hope that next year I can take on some more important roles. Overall I am really looking forward to next year at inte...

Production

Our school production this year was Pasifica Peter Pan (a twist on an old classic). We started rehearsing early last term and presented to an audience last week, with three performances (two in the evening and one Friday matinee show).  Our song at the end was one of our Jump Jam songs.  The senior syndicate had major and minor roles, both on stage and behind the scenes. The rest of the school performed cultural dances from around the Pacific. Shows were sold out and audiences were treated to a spectacular performance. An amazing end result from all our hard work! Well done!

2018 Athletics day

Ciao bloggers, on the second of November, we had Athletics Day. Athletics Day is all about getting outside with the school and celebrating a day, where we can all work together and communicate. On Athletics Day we had a rotation that we did. In that rotation we had different activities like Team Building , High Jump , Shot Put and 400 metre dash . At the start of the day we sat in our age groups outside on the senior court. The ten and eleven year old girls were together and ten and eleven year old boys were together, and all the other ages were all separate. If we wanted to, we could come in our house group colours which were;  Blue (RURU),  Red (KEA),  Green (Puekeko)  and  Yellow ( TUI) or we could just come in mufti. I was in the ten and eleven girls group. We had Shot Put first. In some of the things that we did, we had placings as well which was  1st to 4th place. In Shot Put, me and my friend Jasmine  got placed. I got 1st place and s...

Writing tumble

Malo e lelei bloggers, in the last couple of weeks we have been doing a writing tumble, where we had to write about a picture in a moment in time. After that we could pick a picture and write about in any style of writing. Either another Moment In Time, Creative writing or a poem. Our goal in those couple of weeks, was we had to at least finish two pieces of writing. We also had the choice of which piece of writing we wanted to start on. My teacher Mr R gave us some good information, which was pick one that you like and one that you don't like. My favorite piece of writing in a moment in time was The Rocky Slippery Slide. The Creepy Stalker was my least favorite because I didn't really find the picture interesting. The style of writing I choose was creative writing. The pictures I picked was a dunger computer and an email logo. When I was finished my writing on the computer picture, I sent my work to my friend Zoe to read over it. The feedback she gave was "I really enjoy...

Novel Review Illustration setting

Hi bloggers, this week was our first week back at school. We also had this activity  called a Novel Review were we had to get a novel and read it and fill in some activities on the book. My novel was called Dunger by Joy Cowley. In our slide we had many activities but the one  that I'm going to tell you about is the illustration of the setting . We had to design our setting in a book or digitally.  I created my digital on a website called Tinkercad. My story was all about this boy named William and his sister named Melissa, and they were supposed to go on holiday to Queenstown, but instead they went to their grandparent's bach and had to work for the whole summer holidays. On my illustration I think I did OK because it looks like a bach, because it has front lawn, a garden and even a mat at the front door and it even has the word WELCOME on it. If I was to do this activity again  I would change my book to have another setting. I would also like to actually be able p...

We can also name our egg... But I don't know a name. Do you have a name? Feel free to comment a name for me to use by Friday. We also had to make a place for it to stay. People are also doing Egg siting for FREE. Me and my friend Mercedes, are doing egg siting and already have one customer. His name is Sam he has a Dinosaurs home, because he loves Dinosaurs. Summer learning journey

Morena bloggers, Today in Literacy tumble we are doing something called the Summer Learning Journey.  We had to pick a country and, I picked Australia. The two reasons why I picked Australia is because one my favorite netball player is married to an Australian rugby player and, two because I wanted to find out about Australia so I can tell my aunt, who lives in Australia.  Who wants to find out about Australia? Lets Go.... In Australia the capital is  Canberra, there are many other places like Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney.  In Australia they have a holiday called Australia Day, which is on the 26th of January. On Australian day they eat things like Pavlova and also chips down at the beach. The national colours are Green and gold and they usually have a Kangaroo on their sports uniform.

Interland

Hi bloggers, last week Wednesday we made a DLO on the game Interland. In Interland there are 4 different games called Kind Kingdom, Mindful Mountain, Tower of treasure and Reality River.  Our task was to find what the message was of the game was and what that means. We also had to take some photos or screen shots of the game to demonstrate what we did. The game is all about learning about what to do in cyber smart situations. My favorite is Kind kingdom because you find out about what you do when someone tries to cyber bully you. Here is my DLO!

Technolagy rotation

Hi, bloggers for the past three weeks we have been doing a technology Rotation. We had many different stops like making paper circuits, making a Marble Bridge and making Geo boards . In the paper circuit making we had to try make a light using and LED battery to make a  LED light bulb flash or turn on. After trying that out, we used different materials that have electricity to make a circuit.  Some of the materials we used were LED batteries and light bulbs , tinfoil, split pins and paper clips. Our challenge was to make a switch to turn our LED light bulb  and turn it off again. The thing that I found difficult was trying to get the circuit stable and show perseverance. The next place I went to was making Geo boards. The materials we used were nails, wood and elastic strings.  The Geo board challenge was using measurement to create, using tools to put things together and also taking turns and sharing. The thing I found difficult were nailing the nails in because I ...

Stop motion movie

Hi, bloggers today we have been doing some stop motion movies. We had to use playdough to help us tell our story, we could also use other thing like sticks and also goggely eyes.  We had a sparkly playdough and a normal red piece of playdough. My story or stop motion is all about being friends but I used flowers. In my story I had used the red piece for the flower that wanted to find a friend and the sparkly one,  for the flower that thought she was special and didn't care. At the end the special thinking flower was all alone and so she felt weird so she invited then red flower backover for some cake, and the become best best friends.  I think I went good because I enjoyed it and also because some of the teachers also liked it. The things I could change is with the frames that I had with speech bubbles in it, I could take them a few more times so it is easier to read.  Blog you later

Improving my blog comments

Hi, bloggers today in Cybersmart, we have been working on improving our blog comments. The first thing we had to do was write a blog comment to a buddy( mine was Clara). Then we chosse one of their recent blog post's and commented on that . We had to use the three main parts of a good comment Helpful, Thoughtful and postive. Then we had to copy or take a screenshot of the comment we made and add onto a google drawing that we were using. After that we had to read through the instructions and make changes to our comments. The changes I made to mine comment was, I changed some of the words into more interesting words and also add some information on what we did in the A-Z alphbet emotions activity. Next we had to check it with a buddy and then the teacher. If the teacher said it was good, we had to take a screenshot of it and post on our blog. After that we had to explain what we did. Here is my drawing.

Matariki

Hi bloggers, a couple of weeks ago it was the startof Matariki. Matariki is a cluster of stars, also known as The Seven Sisters.  Matariki this year was held on the 15th of June and it will be held on the 10th of June in 2019. For Moari people it is called the start of a new year. On Matariki people wake up early and have breakfast then go out side to see the stars go past. On Matariki my family wake up early and go to my cousins house to have a really yummy breakfast, then we watch the stars and also head down to the beach for the day. Who celebrates Matariki? Tribes celebrate Matariki when it is first seen. Celebrations last up to 3 days each year. Here are some photos.
